Rock My Vintage | How to Do Wedding Guest Style (and not look frumpy)

Rock My Vintage beaded Maxi Dress

Hey vintage lovers! Here’s the thing, on a weekend our sartorial choices are distinctly retro but we can’t very well go to a wedding in a fringed waistcoat, so what do you do when you want to add a bit of wedding sparkle but keep your own style?

I found the perfect new online shop, called Rock My Vintage (p.s great name guys!). Rock My Vintage is an online boutique based in the uk and are on hand to help with any impending wardrobe dilemmas before your next wedding appearance.

I bagged this gorgeous floor length 1930s gown ( link below), to wear to my friend Jenni’s nuptial the other week.

Here’s a few ideas in conjunction with Rock My Vintage to inspire, without breaking the bank.

Backless and beaded maxi dresses

This 1930s/1920s inspired Gatsby dress is a vintage-lover’s dream. The Art Deco style has such beautiful, embellished details that are so distinctive of this era, including chiffon shoulders. So, be it delicately detailed all over, or with a cape, something like this beaded beauty from Rock My Vintage will help you add a bit of retro sparkle to the day without looking over the top.

This one is made from lovely heavy navy fabric that skims in all the right places made me feel so elegant, but still keeping my laid back boho style. Oh and did you notice is a little bit backless? Cheeky!

I paired it with a pair of 70s platforms, and hit the dance floor with no tripping over my long dress, which I was quite proud of as by the time the music started, I had taken full advantage of the welcome drinks! I would have liked to have got a few images outside but unfortunately, as usually happens at this time of year – it rained!

There’s lots of marvellous maxi dress over on Rock My Vintage. I have my eye on the original vintage off the shoulder one, which would be perfect for the office Christmas Party.
